CONTRACTORS EVENT SCHEDULED FOR TOYOTA PROJECT
Jackson, Miss., (April 6, 2007) – On Monday, April 9, 2007, Toyota Motor Company and the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) will sponsor a Contractors Event at the BancorpSouth Conference Center at 387 West Main Street in Tupelo, Mississippi. Scheduled from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., the event is the first in a series of sessions for potential contractors, suppliers and other interested parties.
Toyota recently announced that it had chosen the 1,700-acre site in Blue Springs, Mississippi to build its 8th North American assembly plant. The new plant, to be located just outside of Tupelo, is scheduled to begin production by 2010.
Site preparation has begun and general contractors for the project will be chosen later this year. This event will cover how interested companies can submit bids to be a part of the site preparation or plant construction work. Representatives from Toyota and MDA will outline contracting and bid requirements and procurement opportunities for all aspects of the project. Minority contractors are encouraged to attend the event.
There is no charge for the session. Visit www.mississippi.org and click on the red Toyota button or call 866.461.4584 for more information.
